Writing A Newspaper Article

I am trying to get a letter of recommendation from a teacehr so that I can be on the newspaper staff of my high school next year. I have to show him some of my work first, so I need to write a few peices and turn them in to him. Being a writer/journalist is a BIG dream of mine; it’s something I’ve always wanted of do. What are some topics that would interest you in a high school newspaper? Suggestions, please? Thank you so much for your time.
